The KARIPOT LARGE clay cooking pot is part of our ceramic cookware range that uses the natural properties of the materials, stone and clay to enhance the cooking experience while preserving the ingredients’ oils and flavours. The burnishing process makes the cooking surface of KARIPOT naturally non-stick and ideal for slow cooking or one-pot everyday meals. This clay cooking pot can be used on the hob, both gas and electric, and in the oven, and celebrates oven to table style eating.

For this Brutalist inspired concrete vase, we miniaturised the functional and architectural features of these sculptural structures, including pipework, before making silicone moulds and casting each vase in concrete.

Kosa glass jar

Our KOSA storage jar in clear glass, is inspired by the tapering shape of Indian ‘lotas’ which are used to hold water for drinking, washing or religious rituals. Made from borosilicate glass, the storage jars are produced in Firozabad in Uttar Pradesh, a town famous for its glass factories. The lids are made from cork and Sheesham, an indigenous and sustainably sourced hardwood. KOSA storage jars in clear glass are available in two sizes.

So we created a long-lasting scented soy candle that represents the landscape, culture and food of India, and its metaphorical south, with a musky, deep scent and notes of patchouli, oakmoss and tar. So we created this long-lasting scented soy candle to represent the landscape, culture and food of India, and its metaphorical north, with a fresh, light and citrusy scent and notes of Assam tea, pomelo and amber. DIYA is our tribute to the small palm-sized terracotta oil lamps you find all over India and also references the heaviness and elegance of south Indian brass oil lamps. These stackable cast brass candleholders are made using a sand-casting process and feel heavy and smooth to the touch. Sold as a set of two, they hold a candle one side and a tealight the other.

We are a product design studio based between Bangalore and London.

India fascinates and inspires us. We think that there is more to Indian design than just sticking an elephant on it, and that Indian craft has more to offer than simply repeating the past.

India can seem a pretty chaotic place. But sitting there, quietly are some really incredible, super functional designs. The “designers” of these objects if they can be found at all, aren’t celebrated in the same way as they are in other countries. Instead design is seen as a bi-product of living. This unassuming approach, with an emphasis on a quiet functionality, is what inspires and drives our creative process.

At Tiipoi, we tell positive and insightful stories of a real India, that is changing and shifting all the time. We don’t want to tell nostalgic stories of its past. We prefer to look at what is happening right now, and highlight India’s role in contemporary design.
