TIPU Pinch Pot
stackable container for condiments
The Pinch Pot features two stackable condiment containers, making it ideal for storing salt, pepper or other seasonings side by side. The Pinch Pot is hand-crafted using traditional techniques in the Indian town of Channapatna - an area known for producing colourful children's toys, evident in the playful form and hues of our TIPU collection.
A natural resin called lac is pressed onto the wood while the heat and friction from the lathe melts the lac, allowing it to adhere beautifully. The glossy orange, yellow and green finish is derived naturally from turmeric, manjistha and indigo, then polished with screwpine, a locally found fibrous leaf, to achieve a glossy finish.
The collection utilises a closed-loop craft ecosystem that has been active for over two centuries, and all materials are locally sourced from regenerative trees. Each Double Pinch Pot has a vibrant orange, yellow and green body with an indigo ring on the lid.

Your cookware must be seasoned prior to use. Seasoning is the process of treating the surface of a cooking vessel to produce a resistant and non-stick cooking surface. To season, add 3-4 table spoons of walnut oil or flax seed oil and rub onto the inside surface of the cookware with a paper towel. Allow it to soak in for 15 minutes and remove any excess.
Preheat oven to max (230-240 or gas mark 8/9) and place your cookware in the oven for 60 minutes. Once complete, turn off your oven and allow your cookware to cool to room temperature before taking it out.Your cookware is now seasoned and ready to use. For the first few uses we recommend using extra oil and always starting on a low flame. Also make sure your cookware is not left empty on a flame as this may cause it to crack.
