Our brass and copper products are not lacquered, which means that over time they will develop a patina on their surface. We do not recommend putting them into the dishwasher. You can remove any stains on the outside of this product using a natural cleaning fluid made by simply mixing together salt, flour and white vinegar into a paste. Apply this using a non-abrasive scrubber with a good amount of pressure onto the surface until the patina begins to come away. Rinse with water and dry thoroughly before applying a few drops of coconut oil all over the product and removing any excess. This step is important because the coconut oil acts as a natural film, preventing it from tarnishing too quickly. The inside of this product is tin-coated and will not tarnish in the same way. You may prefer to use a stronger metal cleaner - we recommend FLITZ, which is an FDA-approved metal cleaning polish that has been categorised as food safe.

Your cookware must be seasoned prior to use. Seasoning is the process of treating the surface of a cooking vessel to produce a resistant and non-stick cooking surface. To season, add 3-4 table spoons of walnut oil or flax seed oil and rub onto the inside surface of the cookware with a paper towel. Allow it to soak in for 15 minutes and remove any excess.

Preheat oven to max (230-240 or gas mark 8/9) and place your cookware in the oven for 60 minutes. Once complete, turn off your oven and allow your cookware to cool to room temperature before taking it out.Your cookware is now seasoned and ready to use. For the first few uses we recommend using extra oil and always starting on a low flame. Also make sure your cookware is not left empty on a flame as this may cause it to crack.
